Who are young carers? The official definition of a young carer is '…a person under 18 who provides or intends to provide care for another person (of any age, except where that care is provided for payment, pursuant to a contract or as voluntary work).' Children and Families Act 2014 Section 96. These young carers are forced to grow up early and miss out on the same opportunities as other children because they care for family members who are disabled or chronically ill, or for adults who are misusing alcohol or drugs. According to the 2011 census data , the most recent official data, the number of young carers rose by 20% compared with ten years before. Report reveals impact on young carers

15 May 2013 Census data published today reveals the number of five to seven year old young carers in England has increased by around 80% over the last decade to 9,371. And a staggering 166,363 children in England are caring for their parents, siblings and family members. This is up by a fifth from when the last Census was conducted in 2001. Nearly 15,000 children up to the age of 17 are providing more than 50 hours of care every week. Despite this being the first official statistic to be published in ten years, it is likely to massively underrepresent the true picture, according to the Young Carers in Focus (YCiF) partnership ¹ , led by The Children’s Society and funded by the Big Lottery Fund. The Children’s Society’s own analysis also reveals that young carers are one and a half times more likely to have a long-standing illness or disability or special educational need than their peers.  This is backed-up by today's census, which reveal...

Outline campaign

Outline campaign My campaign is to show the hardship of young carer and the day-to-day task they have to deal with. In my campaign. I will highlight key points of the task a young carer aged 18 and under have to deal with on a day-to-day basis such as cooking, cleaning, medicine dosage and general care for someone with mental illness or a disability. My main ideas for this campaign is to show that a lot of these young people have to miss out on their childhood to grow up in some cases in a instant to be a parent to the siblings or sometimes their parents. The main achievement of my campaign is to raise awareness of the day-to-day living of a young carer and how they go about doing their job and caring for dare disabled or mentally ill loved one. I will mainly be using child cartoons and animations to illustrate my point for example the TV show Mr Benn from where a character go   a costume shop and put on a different costume which transports Him into the lives of the cos...

youtube advert

Type of YouTube ad space I'll be choosing will be there true view in-stream ad. Which is an ad you would watch and can't skip for a certain amount of time choosing this ad will fit my campaign by gaming interest in the first 5 seconds as people would wonder what it is about.   My campaign is centred around the ad space on YouTube  because the age range of my target audience  bying  between 22-42 age.  My target audience is between 22-42   Age adults that mainly have children and can relate to having to take care of someone. My secondary source of my campaign would be a Facebook or Pinterest that would serve for an older generation instead of a younger one if I was to have a younger one I would go for Snapchat and Instagram to raise awareness for my campaign as uses for these platforms are quite low normally 30 and below so using platforms like that I would not get my required target audience and would have a under exposed campaign pleasing to...

make the campaign

Image
The plan of my campaign is to make a am out of paper than animate the entire video in After Effects but for the time we went I had this did not seem possible after all and certain areas would have to suffer for it such as the sound as I had to draw out all of the pieces two match the art style. The idea of style for my campaign is to have a hand drawn animation that resembles the old cartoon Mr Benn to make the campaign feel like ain't nostalgia piece.   The reasoning behind this is the latest adverts coming from Halifax of old Hanna-Barbera cartoons such as Top Cat and The Flintstones.
